1971

Written by patty on December 13th, 2008

At least that’s when I think this photo was taken. Maybe 1972?

This is me (on the left) and Cheryl. Speedos, hot dogs, swim club. What more could we ask for?

Wait, let me answer that question. A life-long friendship. A memorable 8th grade visit to the horrors of Nature’s Classroom. High school years when we were up to no good. College years spent sharing wardrobe staples (rather than fighting over the last Esprit long black cotton skirt in our size? We split the cost and shared it). Matron of honor duties at each others’ weddings.

But Cheryl? Dude? About that maid of honor business. As you know, I spent a good part of my night going through pictures. I found pictures of me in a poufy pink number at your wedding… and pictures of you in a sexy black sheath at my wedding. Girlfriend, what’s up with that?

Not that it matters. How can I hold a grudge when I’ve got pictures and pictures and pictures like these?

And by the way, how much do you think the City of Stamford paid us to talk about your hair? Because clearly, we were deeply engrossed in that conversation. Who can be bothered looking at the water when there’s so many important topics to discuss?

I love you girlfriend!

We all pretend to hate our old bridesmaid dresses..but let’s face it, they do provide some good laughs down the line.

Ms Picket, I feel your pain (she says, as she waits for Cheryl to come laugh and laugh and laugh).

I may have to post pictures to prove my point… but that would mean either beheading myself (pictorially speaking) or revealing a hairstyle that’s a little too Flock of Seagulls for my liking.

Oh God, Nature’s Classroom! I’m having disturbed flashbacks. The kind you can’t really put your finger on, and really don’t want to, because you know they’re repressed for a reason. This whole Internets thing has got to go…

Were all overachievers lifeguards? A lot of people know seem to have been lifeguards in high school! It was a fun course, right, blowing up your own clothes to make them float, and having to capsize and get back into a conoe?

Laugh, I’m laughing my arse off!!! Once again I really do not know what to say except, I got married in the 80’s, the time of puffy sleeves, pouffy skirts and pastel wedding gowns. Although, I think it definately went with your hairdo. Best part, having you by my side during childhood and beyond. Keep on writing Patty. Love you,

    Crystal

Stamford Talk, I don’t think we knew at the time that we were overachievers. More like a bunch of lazy teenagers who occasionally found the will to glance at the water and make sure no one drowned.

Cheryl, Cheryl, Cheryl… You know I would do absolutely anything for you. INCLUDING wearing that dress again. If I had to ;)
