strep musings

Written by patty on June 18th, 2009

Was it the post-doctor’s visit, post-haircut-and-highlights, post-400 inches of rain swim in the outdoor pool last Friday that did me in?

The ENT seems to think so. Thank goodness for him. Dr. Sadist actually turned out to be a good guy, seeing me urgently to diagnose the strep and prescribe antibiotics. “You again?” he joked when I was back in his office yesterday, following Friday’s inconclusive visit.

Why is The View still on? Why am I watching it? Did you know Denise Richards is surprisingly endearing on her reality show? Did you know Tori and Dean have no concept of reality? Yeah, me too. I can watch Hitch seven or eight more times before I’ll get sick of it.

Other than when my dad drove me to the doctor yesterday, the ‘doodle hasn’t left my side for 72 hours. I made coffee this morning, and she protectively threw herself across my feet as I ground the beans. She’s helpful like that.

I’m missing my routine. So are my children.

I wonder if fish oil will reduce the inflammation? When will my appetite come back? When will my head stop throbbing every time I stand up?

And when can I start swimming again?

Did they culture positive strep or just diagnose it? Lots going around that is viral and/or allergy related that is not strep! Antibiotics clear it in a maximum of 5 days, but you have to finish the whole course they prescribed if it is.
Fortunately, swimming does not have anything to do with it, unless there is polluted water involved, it is always people contact. Try chloroseptic to reduce the inflammation on a dare.
