dizzy

It’s a beloved Throwing Muses song from 20 bajillion years ago, and it’s what’s going on in my head right now.

What a bizarre two weeks since my face seized. As sensation and movement come back, I’d be lying if I said there were no strange side effects. Is it the prenisone? Shingles? After-effects from the anti-virals? I don’t know. A few days ago it was the pain, back again for a brief interlude. Today it’s the dizzies. I was fine, then the room went all Tilt-A-Wheel for 12 seconds. In its wake, I am a bit off. Dropped a mug unloading the dishwasher. Can’t get my head in the right position. A bit nauseated (but that may be the dark chocolate truffles and matzoh).

The plan is to go back to work on Monday. And by go back to work, I mean go into my home office with the doodles and close the door behind me. My face, speech and I are not quite ready for the real office yet. Thank goodness I can ably work from here for a while.

By any measure my recovery is lightning quick. Doctors talk in months with Bell’s Palsy, and at the two week mark I have probably 60%+ use of the right side of my face back. Drugs, vitamins, amino acids, fish oil, good food, REST, and my insistence on being an over-achiever are all contributing factors – I’m sure of it. I’m determined to make this but a memory.

There’s still so much to do with the remodel. We need a closet system (and srsly? A walk in closet? I think I died in an accident, ’cause this must be heaven). Lights for the bathroom. Hardware for the pocket door. But it all can wait. Sometimes getting kicked in the butt means putting allllll those things that seem so important aside for a while. It’ll all be there when the dizziness is nothing but a memory.
